National Family Volunteer Day at the OC Food Bank

Posted by vmmdj on November 24, 2008

I had the pleasure of participating (playing lots of fun energetic music) at the National Family Volunteer Day event at the Orange County Food Bank this past Saturday, November 22.  There was a tremendous turn out from employees and family members of Broadcom, Disneyland Resort, Edison International, First American, Ingram Micro, Pacific Life, KMPG, Wells Fargo, and St. Joseph Health System.  From old to young all helped in putting together thousands of boxes of food to help the elderly, pregnant women, and children.  There is a great need all year round for volunteers at the food bank.  Please consider volunteering or sending in financial support.  For more information about the food bank and to schedule a volunteer day check out www.ocfoodbank.org or call714-897-6670.

The Orange County Food Bank is part of the Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAPOC) that is a prive non-profit.  They are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life within Orange County by eliminatin and preventing the causes and effects of poverty by mobilizing and directing resources to assist, educate and promote self-sufficiency.

The Brighter Side Foundation

Posted by vmmdj on May 25, 2008

I wanted to share a few words about this is a terrific organization based out of the San Diego Area. On June 9, 2007 we had the pleasure of supporting the Brighter Side Foundation in their first annual concert as one of the disc jockeys helping with the show.

Local to Gloval Concert

Here is a brief synopsis of the foundation taken from their web site...

The Brighter Side Foundation is a unique non-profit organization dedicated to developing youth leadership skills and empowering teens in Southern California. Our after-school program called “Local to Global” brings global awareness into action by introducing the students to event planning for charitable causes in Africa. Program coursework is designed to expose the student to the skills necessary to conduct a large-scale fundraiser that is held each spring at the World Beat Center. “
